Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MaxiK beta.
Target Information
MaxiK channels are large conductance, voltage- and calcium-sensitive potassium channels fundamental to the control of smooth muscle tone and neuronal excitability. They consist of two subunits: the pore-forming alpha subunit and the modulatory beta subunit. The KCNMB4-encoded protein acts as an auxiliary beta subunit, slowing activation kinetics, increasing calcium sensitivity, and shifting the voltage range of activation to more negative potentials compared to the beta 1 subunit.
