Target Information
DNA methyltransferase 1-associated protein 1 (DMAP1) is involved in transcriptional regulation, functioning in both repression and activation. It interacts with DNA methyltransferase 1 during S phase to target replication foci and recruits histone deacetylase 2 to deacetylate histones in heterochromatin. DMAP1 also enhances DAXX-mediated repression of glucocorticoid receptor-dependent transcription and is part of the nucleosome acetyltransferase of H4 complex. It interacts with several corepressors and apoptotic proteins and is conserved from yeast to humans. The human DMAP1 gene is located on chromosome 1p34.
