Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by influencing interactions with eukaryotic initiation factors.
This protein binds promoters containing a Y-box (5′-CTGATTGGCCAA-3′), such as HLA class II genes, regulating transcription of numerous genes.
YBX1 promotes separation of DNA strands with mismatches or cisplatin modifications and exhibits endonucleolytic activity, introducing nicks or breaks in double-stranded DNA in vitro. It may play a role in DNA repair.
