Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 패밀리의 구성원으로, 주로 중추신경계의 성상교세포(astrocyte)와 특정 astroglia, 말초신경계의 위성세포 및 비수초성 슈반세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 높은 수준으로 발현되어 astrocytic 세포의 마커로 널리 사용됩니다. 다양한 뇌종양 및 일부 비신경조직에서도 GFAP 발현이 보고되었으며, astrocyte와 다른 glial cell을 구분하는 데 유용합니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander 병을 유발하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
