This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD10 antigen (CALLA - Common Acute Lymphatic Leukemia Antigen), a 100 kDa type II integral membrane protein.
Target Information
CD10 (Common Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Antigen, CALLA) is a cell surface enzyme with neutral metalloendopeptidase activity that inactivates various biologically active peptides.
CD10 is expressed on lymphoblastic, Burkitt’s, and follicular germinal center lymphoma cells, immature B cells in adult bone marrow, and CML patient cells. It is also found on breast myoepithelial cells, bile canaliculi, fibroblasts, and highly expressed on kidney and gut epithelial brush borders.
CD10 cleaves peptides at the amino side of hydrophobic residues and inactivates peptide hormones such as glucagon, enkephalins, substance P, neurotensin, oxytocin, and bradykinin.
It is a 100 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by a >45 kb gene. The 5′ untranslated region undergoes alternative splicing, producing four mRNA transcripts without affecting the coding region.
Diseases associated with CD10 dysfunction include spinocerebellar ataxia 43 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
