Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of IRS1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 639.
Target Information
IRS-1 is a major substrate of the insulin receptor and is phosphorylated in response to stimulation by insulin, IGF-1, and IL-4. It undergoes phosphorylation on serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues in various tissues. Casein kinase II mediates part of the insulin-stimulated serine/threonine phosphorylation of IRS-1. Thr502 and Ser99 are identified as major phosphorylation sites catalyzed by casein kinase II. IRS-1 also contains three putative binding sites for 14-3-3 proteins (Ser270, Ser374, Ser641), where the motif around Ser270 is located in the phosphotyrosine binding domain responsible for interaction with the insulin receptor.
