Target Information
Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight of 230–250 kDa. It exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein in the extracellular matrix of connective tissues and vessels, and as a soluble plasma protein. Fibronectin plays a key role in cell adhesion, migration, embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. Its expression is notably elevated in non-small cell lung carcinoma, where it contributes to tumorigenicity and chemoresistance. The fibronectin gene undergoes alternative splicing, potentially producing up to 20 transcript variants.
