Target Information
Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight of 230–250 kDa. In connective tissues and vessels, it exists as an insoluble, cross-linked polymer. Fibronectin plays key roles in cell adhesion and migration during embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. It is abundant during tissue remodeling and found both as a soluble plasma protein and as a matrix-associated form. Elevated fibronectin expression is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma and contributes to tumorigenicity and resistance to apoptosis. The fibronectin gene undergoes alternative splicing, potentially generating up to 20 transcript variants.
