Target Information
Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCC) mediate calcium ion entry into excitable cells and participate in various calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division, and cell death.
The alpha-1F isoform produces L-type calcium currents.
L-type calcium channels belong to the high-voltage activated (HVA) group and are blocked by dihydropyridines, phenylalkylamines, benzothiazepines, and omega-agatoxin-IIIA, but insensitive to omega-conotoxin-GVIA and omega-agatoxin-IVA.
