This antibody detects endogenous HSP701L / Heat Shock Protein 70 1-like proteins.
Target Information
Cells respond to environmental stress by increasing the expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs). Among these, small heat shock proteins range from approximately 15 to over 30 kDa, with a single form found in yeast and humans, and multiple related forms in higher plants. Elevated stress protein expression has been linked to neoplasia, as seen in estrogen-induced proteins in breast cancer cells. Hsp27, for example, shows rapid phosphorylation in response to mitogens, tumor promoters, and calcium ionophores. A 24 kDa estrogen-induced protein is highly expressed in breast carcinoma and correlates with steroid hormone receptor presence. Similarly, Hsp27 levels have been associated with endometrial adenocarcinomas. Regulation of human Hsp27 by estrogens and heat shock resembles the ecdysteroid and heat shock activation of drosophila Hsp20 genes.
