This antibody detects endogenous XRCC4 proteins.
Target Information
The x-ray repair cross-complementing (XRCC) proteins are involved in efficient DNA repair and maintenance of genetic stability following base damage. These genes share sequence similarity with the yeast DNA repair protein Rad51. XRCC4 acts as an accessory factor of DNA ligase IV, preferentially binding to DNA with nicks or broken ends, and enhances the joining activity of DNA ligase IV. It also plays a role in V(D)J recombination. Defects in components such as Ku-70, Ku-80, DNA-PKCS, XRCC4, or DNA ligase IV can disrupt the V(D)J rearrangement process, leading to early blocks in T and B cell maturation.
