Target Information
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to specific cellular locations.
This gene encodes an AKAP family member expressed in endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and osteosarcoma cells. It associates with kinases A and C and phosphatase, serving as a scaffold in signal transduction.
The protein colocalizes with RII PKA at the cell periphery and is related to cell growth. Antibodies to this protein may be produced by patients with myasthenia gravis.
Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
