Target Information
This gene encodes a component of the mediator complex, a transcriptional coactivator complex required for the expression of nearly all genes. The mediator complex interacts with transcriptional activators or nuclear receptors to induce gene expression by promoting RNA polymerase II pre-initiation complex formation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
