MEK4 또는 MKK4는 STE7 계열의 이중 특이성 키나아제로, JNK1, JNK2 및 p38을 인산화하고 활성화합니다.
MAP2K4는 세포 스트레스 및 염증성 사이토카인 반응과 같은 다양한 생리적·병리적 과정에 관여하며, 암 발생과 관련이 있습니다.
MAP2K4의 기능 상실 돌연변이는 폐암 및 췌장암에서 발견되었으며, 반대로 종양 촉진적 역할도 보고되었습니다.
