Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of HSP27 only when phosphorylated at Serine 78.
Target Information
In response to environmental stress, cells increase expression of heat shock proteins. HSPB1 (heat shock protein beta-1 or HSP27) is a small molecular chaperone that maintains denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. It contributes to stress resistance and actin organization, regulating biological processes such as phosphorylation and axonal transport of neurofilament proteins. Mutations in HSPB1 are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2F and distal hereditary motor neuronopathy type 2B.
