Target Information
CD146 (MCAM) is an integral membrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed at cell-cell junctions in all endothelial cells and in other normal and malignant cell types. CD146 functions as a calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule and may also act as a signal transduction molecule, recruiting Fyn kinase and promoting tyrosine phosphorylation of intracellular proteins involved in actin cytoskeleton assembly. It plays key roles in endothelial cohesion, tumor metastasis, and neural crest cell adhesion during embryonic development.
