This antibody reacts with overexpressed and endogenous POL beta protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with POL beta from human, bovine, and Xenopus laevis based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence.
Cross-reactivity with POL beta from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

DNA polymerase beta comprises an amino-terminal 8-kDa domain and a carboxy-terminal 31-kDa domain.
The N-terminal ssDNA binding domain has deoxyribose phosphodiesterase activity, while the C-terminal domain has nucleotidyltransferase activity.
Mammalian DNA polymerase beta, a DNA repair polymerase, is constitutively expressed in cultured cells, but treatment with DNA-alkylating agents such as MNNG or methyl methanesulfonate up-regulates beta-pol levels.
DNA polymerase beta fills single nucleotide gaps in DNA produced by the base excision repair pathway of mammalian cells.
