Target Information
The munc-18 interacting protein (Mint) family comprises adaptor proteins involved in membrane transport and organization. Mammalian Mint isoforms include Mint1, Mint2, and Mint3.
- The C-terminal region is highly conserved, containing PTB and PDZ domains for protein interactions.
- Mint1 and Mint2 are expressed mainly in the brain and bind to Munc18, a component of synaptic vesicle fusion machinery.
- Mint3 is ubiquitously expressed, interacts with APP (amyloid precursor protein), and may regulate APP transport and metabolism.
- Abnormal APP metabolism is linked to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
