This antibody recognizes CD17, an extracellular membrane lipid moiety (lactosylceramide) expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, and platelets.
Target Information
CD17 (lactosylceramide) is a ubiquitous glycosphingolipid with an uncharged disaccharide headgroup, highly enriched in lipid raft-derived structures. It plays a key role in the biosynthesis of complex glycosphingolipids and participates in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, as well as signaling events involved in differentiation, development, apoptosis, and oncogenesis.
Lactosylceramide regulates integrin functions and nitric oxide production, and its expression defines successive stages in the maturation of myeloid cells.
