Specificity: Human HER3/ErbB3.
This product is a chimeric monoclonal antibody combining the constant domains of the human IgG1 molecule with mouse variable regions. The antibody was produced using recombinant antibody technology.

Target Information

ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors and binds ligands in the heregulin family. ErbB3 is overexpressed in various tumors including prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon. Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to different extents.
The ErbB3 gene is located on the long arm of human chromosome 12 (12q13) and is transcribed into a 6.2 kb mRNA that encodes a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein. This gene encodes a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members, leading to activation of pathways involved in cell proliferation or differentiation.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms, including a secreted form that modulates the activity of the membrane-bound receptor. Additional splice variants have been reported but remain incompletely characterized.
