Mouse anti-Human CD55 antibody, clone Bu14 recognizes human CD55, also known as Decay Accelerating Factor (DAF).
Target Information
CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a GPI-anchored membrane glycoprotein that protects autologous cells from the classical and alternative pathways of the complement cascade.
Interactions between CD55 and CD97 are involved in T cell regulation, and CD55 can regulate complement when bound to CD97.
In tumors, CD55 promotes neoangiogenesis, tumorigenesis, invasiveness, and evasion of apoptosis.
CD55 is a 70 kDa glycoprotein in erythrocytes anchored by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail. In other cells, CD55 appears larger due to O-glycan content. It binds activated C4b or C3b complement fragments, preventing assembly and accelerating decay of complement pathways.
CD55 carries the Cromer-related blood group antigens. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encode either a membrane-bound or soluble protein, with the membrane form being predominant.
CD55 has been studied for its role in prostate cancer growth and survival.
