Target Information
MGA functions as a dual-specificity transcription factor regulating both MAX-network and T-box family target genes. It can act as a repressor or activator, binding to the 5'-AATTTCACACCTAGGTGTGAAATT-3' core sequence to regulate MYC-MAX target genes. MGA suppresses MYC-dependent transcriptional activation and cell transformation, and its function is activated through heterodimerization with MAX, which also prevents corepressor interaction.
