Target Information
The 26S proteasome (PSMD11) is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered structure composed of two complexes: a 20S core and a 19S regulator.
The 20S core comprises four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two rings of seven alpha subunits and two rings of seven beta subunits).
The 19S regulator consists of a base (six ATPase subunits and two non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to ten non-ATPase subunits).
Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells, cleaving peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
The immunoproteasome variant processes class I MHC peptides. PSMD11 is a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S regulator.
