MA1-7624 detects FAS from human, rat, and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA, Western blot, and immunoprecipitation procedures.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant FAS protein.

Target Information

FAS (Fas, CD95, APO-1) is a 46 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a cell death receptor of the TNFR superfamily. It also exists in a soluble form (~26 kDa).
Stimulation of FAS leads to aggregation of its intracellular FAS-associated death domains (FADD), formation of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), and activation of caspases, triggering apoptosis.
FAS has been shown to activate NF-kappaB, MAPK3/ERK1, MAPK8/JNK, and is involved in proliferative signaling in fibroblasts and T cells.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms; those lacking the transmembrane domain may negatively regulate apoptosis mediated by the full-length isoform.
The Fas/Fas ligand system plays a role in diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer, and is involved in antiviral immune responses.
