CDH17 유전자는 칼슘 의존성 막 결합 당단백질을 암호화하는 cadherin superfamily에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 7개의 cadherin 도메인을 포함하는 세포외 영역과 막관통 영역을 가지며, 보존된 세포질 도메인은 없습니다. 위장관 및 췌관의 구성 요소로서, 펩타이드 기반 약물의 경구 흡수 첫 단계에서 장내 프로톤 의존성 펩타이드 수송체로 작용합니다. 또한 간 및 장의 형태학적 조직화에도 관여할 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
