Product Specific Information

The eBioH35-17.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8 beta molecule. The CD8 beta chain associates with the CD8 alpha chain to form the CD8 alpha/beta heterodimer expressed on thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic alpha beta TCR T cells. CD8 binds to MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation.

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, mediating efficient immune cell interactions. CD8 acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by class I MHC molecules. The functional receptor can be a homodimer (alpha-alpha) or heterodimer (alpha-beta). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 2.
