Target Information

ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) are low molecular weight GTP-binding proteins belonging to the RAS superfamily.
The 182-amino acid ARL3 (ADP-ribosylation like factor 3) protein shares 97% identity with rat ARL3 and 43% with human ARF1.
ARL3 possesses a glycine at position 2 (site of N-myristoylation) and lacks cysteine residues near the C-terminus.
Expression is highest in heart and lung, moderate in brain, liver, kidney, ovary, and testis.
Detected in human tumor cell lines but not in normal rodent cells.
Although ARL3 binds GTP, it lacks cholera toxin-dependent ADP-ribosylation activity and is thus classified as an ARF-like protein.
