Product Specific Information

Specificity: The epitope of BT164 is mapped in the N-terminal tail of histone H3 (27-KSAPAT-32) and includes the apoptosis-induced trimethylation of K27.


Target Information

H3K27me3 is the epigenetic mark where histone H3 is trimethylated at lysine residue 27. It serves as a silencing mark associated with downregulation of nearby genes and is typically found in heterochromatin regions and inactive gene promoters. H3K27me3 often opposes the activating mark H3K4me3 and is closely linked to developmental gene regulation.

EZH2, a component of the PRC2 complex, is the histone methyltransferase responsible for trimethylating H3K27, while UTX and JMJD3 act as demethylases for H3K27me3. Dysregulation of this modification is implicated in various diseases, including cancer. H3K27me3 antibodies are commonly used in western blot and ChIP assays to study epigenetic regulation.
