Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β), promoting antiviral responses.
STING may also function as a translocon, influencing interferon induction and transmitting apoptotic signals via MHC-II association. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling through ERK pathway activation.
STING is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across various tissues.
