Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a critical role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferon expression (IFN-α and IFN-β) and promoting antiviral responses. STING may also function as a translocon, influencing interferon induction and apoptotic signaling through MHC-II association. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA and mediates death signaling via ERK pathway activation. STING is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
