Description:
The AK-4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD62P (P-Selectin), a 140 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein. Upon activation, CD62P is rapidly transported from its cytoplasmic stores in the Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells or the alpha-granules of platelets to the cell surface. CD62P mediates adhesion between endothelial cells and neutrophils or monocytes during inflammation and also facilitates platelet-leukocyte interactions.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of resting and thrombin-activated human platelets. Recommended usage is 5 µL (1 µg) per test.
A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL.
Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

P-selectin (CD62P) is a 140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion processes. It is stored in Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells and α-granules of platelets and is rapidly translocated to the cell surface upon activation by thrombin, histamine, complement 5a, Ca²⁺ ionophores, or ADP.
P-selectin mediates interactions between activated endothelial cells or platelets and leukocytes, playing a key role in inflammation, thrombosis, and atherogenesis. It binds to sialylated Lewis blood group carbohydrate antigens on neutrophils and monocytes and is used clinically to distinguish heparin-induced thrombocytopenia with or without thrombosis.
