For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

STAT5 alpha is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. Upon cytokine or growth factor stimulation, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases, forming homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators. STAT5 alpha mediates responses to ligands such as IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and various growth hormones.

Constitutive activation of STAT5 alpha, such as in TEL/JAK2 fusion-associated myeloma and lymphoma, contributes to tumorigenesis. In mice, STAT5 alpha induces expression of BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), suggesting an anti-apoptotic role. STAT5 alpha and STAT5 beta share 96% sequence similarity and are co-expressed in many tissues, though their mRNA levels differ in certain tissues such as muscle and mammary gland. STAT5 alpha plays critical roles in reproduction, lactation, immune regulation, and somatic growth.
