TYW2, also known as TRM12, is an enzyme involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine at the 3′ position adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA, stabilizing codon–anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW2 participates in a multistep enzymatic process that ensures accurate translation and has been found amplified or overexpressed in various breast cancer cell lines and tumor samples, suggesting a potential role in breast cancer development.
