Target Information

NTRK2 (TRKB) belongs to the neurotrophic factor family essential for the development and maintenance of the mammalian nervous system.
It serves as the receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Together, NTRK2 and BDNF regulate both short-term synaptic functions and long-term potentiation in brain synapses.

TrkB is a tyrosine kinase receptor involved in neuronal differentiation and maintenance. It is primarily expressed in central and peripheral nervous system tissues.
BDNF and NT-3 can induce rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of TrkB gp145, with BDNF eliciting a much stronger response than NT-3.
Signaling through TrkB activates the MAPK pathway, leading to cell differentiation.
Mutations in the TrkB gene have been linked to obesity and mood disorders. Alternative splice variants encode different isoforms of TrkB.
