Target Information
HLA-DMB (major histocompatibility complex, class II, DM beta), also known as D6S221E, RING7, HLA-DM histocompatibility type, beta chain, HLADMB or RING7, is a human protein encoded by the HLA-DMB gene located on chromosome 6p21.32.
This molecule belongs to the HLA class II beta chain paralogues and forms a heterodimer with the alpha (DMA) chain, both anchored in the membrane and located in intracellular vesicles.
DM plays a central role in peptide loading of MHC class II molecules by facilitating the release of the CLIP (class II-associated invariant chain peptide) from the binding site.
Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells. The beta chain is approximately 26–28 kDa and its gene contains six exons.
HLA-DMA and -DMB encode subunits of a functional heterodimer critical in the pathway of class II antigen presentation.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential in Immunopeptidomics, enabling identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
