Target Information
TIP47 (Perilipin-3) is a cargo protein involved in trafficking of the mannose-6-phosphate receptor between endosomes and the Golgi complex. Mannose 6-phosphate receptors (MPRs) deliver lysosomal hydrolases from the Golgi to endosomes and then return to the Golgi complex. The protein interacts with cytoplasmic domains of both cation-independent and cation-dependent MPRs and is required for endosome-to-Golgi transport. It also binds directly to the GTPase RAB9, increasing its affinity for cargo. TIP47 has been localized in milk fat globule membranes of human and bovine origin and described as a placental protein. Elevated levels have been observed in circulation of cervix carcinoma patients, suggesting potential as an oncodevelopmental marker.
