Product Specific Information
Specificity: CD20 (Human B-lymphocyte-restricted differentiation antigen, Bp35) — a hydrophobic transmembrane protein (~35 kDa) located on pre-B and mature B lymphocytes, and most B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. It is not found on stem cells, pro-B cells, normal plasma cells, or other normal tissues.
Target Information
Rituximab (Rituxan) is a humanized monoclonal antibody approved by the U.S. FDA for treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancers such as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, and pemphigus vulgaris. Rituximab targets the CD20 protein on B cells, inducing cell death upon binding.
