Target Information
RNF20 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that regulates chromosome structure by monoubiquitinating histone H2B. It selectively suppresses the expression of certain proto-oncogenes and growth-related genes by interfering with chromatin recruitment of transcription elongation factor SII (TFIIS). Conversely, RNF20 positively regulates the p53 tumor suppressor and histone H2A/H2B genes. Together with deubiquitinase USP44, RNF20 modulates stem cell differentiation through H2B monoubiquitination.
