This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD129 / IL-9R alpha, a 57 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed at low levels by lymphocytes, blood cell progenitors, eosinophils, mast cells, epithelial cells, muscle cells, and neurons.
Flow cytometry: It is recommended to use bright fluorochromes or signal multiplying detection.
Functional Application: Blocking.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine receptor that specifically mediates the biological effects of interleukin 9 (IL9). The functional IL9 receptor complex requires this protein as well as the interleukin 2 receptor gamma (IL2RG), a common gamma subunit shared by the receptors of many different cytokines. Ligand binding leads to activation of JAK kinases and STAT proteins, triggering diverse biological responses.
This gene is located at the pseudoautosomal regions of X and Y chromosomes and has been associated with asthma development. Multiple pseudogenes exist on chromosomes 9, 10, 16, and 18. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
