This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the regulatory light chain of smooth and non-muscle myosin.
It is phosphospecific and detects mono- and diphosphorylated forms of the protein.
Specific for phosphorylated pS19/pS20 form; reactivity with non-phosphorylated myosin light chain is <1% by ELISA.
Cross-reactivity expected with myosin light chain from human and mouse.
Sequence similarity suggests potential cross-reactivity with mammalian and avian species.

Target Information

Myosin regulatory light polypeptide 9 (MYL9) is a conserved, ubiquitously expressed protein encoded by the MYL9 gene in humans.
Myosin is a hexameric protein composed of two heavy chains and four light chains, including phosphorylatable and nonphosphorylatable subunits.
MYL9 may regulate muscle contraction by modulating ATPase activity of myosin heads.
MYL9 and MYL12 act as functional ligands for CD69; blockade of CD69–Myl9/12 interaction ameliorates allergic airway inflammation in mouse models.
