Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of HO-1 in 10 µg of mixed human cell line lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary. Detects 32 kDa. Does not cross-react with HO-2.
Target Information
Heme oxygenase (HO) is a microsomal enzyme catalyzing the oxidation of heme to biliverdin and carbon monoxide. Two isozymes exist: inducible HO-1 and constitutive HO-2. HO-1 expression increases under oxidative stress, inflammation, TGF-β stimulation, and heat shock, functioning as a cellular defense mechanism by generating antioxidant bilirubin.
