• In sandwich ELISAs, less than 2% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-33 is observed.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein belonging to the IL-1 family with an IL-1-like C-terminal domain. It functions both as a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties. IL-33 binds to IL1RL1/ST2, activating MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, which leads to NF-κB and MAP kinase activation and TH2 cytokine production (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13).
IL-33 is expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes, and is nearly undetectable in placenta. Prolonged IL-33 treatment in mice can cause eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and mucosal organ pathology.
Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE. It can co-localize with heterochromatin and act as a transcriptional repressor, emphasizing its dual role as cytokine and nuclear factor.
