Target Information
Angiotensin II is a potent vasopressor hormone and a primary regulator of aldosterone secretion that acts through at least two types of receptors, AGTR1 and AGTR2. It plays an important role in controlling blood pressure and volume in the cardiovascular system and contributes to kidney and urinary tract development.
AGTR2 is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that differs from AGTR1 by lacking most of the classic GPCR signaling features.
AGTR2 is involved in various biological processes, including neurite outgrowth induction and inhibition of cellular proliferation, as well as vasoconstriction mediation.
