Target Information

PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. It regulates actin cytoskeleton reorganization, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling.

FAK2 plays roles in the humoral immune response, maintaining normal levels and migration of splenic B-cells. It functions downstream of various receptors, including integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating cellular stress responses.

Aberrant FAK2 expression is associated with cancer cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis, with elevated levels observed in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.
