Target Information

STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that acts as an important component of innate immune signaling. It activates both NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce expression of type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta), exerting a potent antiviral state.
STING may have translocon function influencing induction of type I interferons and is involved in apoptotic signal transduction via association with MHC-II, facilitating detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA. It mediates death signaling through ERK pathway activation.
STING is generally localized in endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
