This antibody detects endogenous levels of HER3/ErbB3 only when phosphorylated at Ser686.
Target Information
ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors that binds ligands in the heregulin family. It is over-expressed in various tumors, including those of the prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon. Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to different extents.
The ErbB3 gene is located on chromosome 12q13 and encodes a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein receptor tyrosine kinase. It forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members, leading to activation of pathways involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms, including a secreted form that modulates membrane-bound receptor activity.
