Product Specific Information

The PA1-46190 immunogen is a synthetic peptide made to the human TAZ protein, selected for its lack of homology to the YAP protein.
Suggested positive control: HeLa nuclear extract, antigen standard for BIRC5 (transient overexpression lysate).

Target Information

Survivin (IAP4) is the smallest member of the Inhibitors of Apoptosis Protein (IAP) gene family. IAPs are involved in various cellular functions including cell signaling, division, and metabolism, and show differential expression in most human cancers but not in normal tissues.
Survivin contains a single baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domain and lacks a C-terminal RING finger domain. It is highly expressed during fetal development and in tumors, but low in adult tissues. Expression peaks during the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, where survivin associates with microtubules of the mitotic spindle. Disruption of this interaction increases caspase-3 activity and apoptosis during mitosis.
Survivin is also expressed in brain tissues (astrocytes and some neurons) following traumatic brain injury, co-expressed with NeuN and PCNA, suggesting a role in neural cell proliferation. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms exist for this gene.
