Target Information
Gli-2 is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor belonging to the Gli family. It mediates Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling and acts as a potent oncogene in embryonal carcinoma cells.
The encoded protein localizes to the cytoplasm and activates patched Drosophila homolog (PTCH) gene expression, playing a role in embryogenesis.
Associated phenotypes include Greig cephalopolysyndactyly syndrome, Pallister-Hall syndrome, preaxial polydactyly type IV, and postaxial polydactyly types A1 and B.
