Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They are composed of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a defined population of light and heavy chains, eliminating the biological variability seen in traditional polyclonal antibodies.

Target Information

Excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2) is a member of the solute transporter protein family. This membrane-bound protein is the principal transporter that clears the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate from the extracellular space at synapses in the central nervous system.

Glutamate clearance is necessary for proper synaptic activation and to prevent neuronal damage from excessive activation of glutamate receptors. Mutations or decreased expression of this protein are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified.
