Target Information
NALP proteins are cytoplasmic proteins that form a subfamily within the larger CATERPILLER family and play a crucial role in cell proliferation and reproduction.
NALP12 (Monarch-1) includes a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region, an N-terminal Pyrin domain (PYD), a NACHT domain, and a NACHT-associated domain.
NALP12 acts as an attenuating factor of inflammation by suppressing NF-kappa-B activation through TLR-signaling molecules (MyD88, IRAK-1, TRAF6, RIPK1) in activated monocytes.
Mutations in NALP12 are associated with hereditary periodic fever syndromes.
